Instructions for Applying to the Fellowship Programme

Eligibility and Application Basics

  • Age limit: Upto 40 years.
  • Eligibility: Local/Domestic candidates only (International applicants: Not eligible).
  • Pay the non-refundable application processing fee of ₹3,540 ( ₹ 3000 + 18% GST) online via credit/debit card, net banking, or UPI.
  • Last Date to apply : 31.10.2026
  • Applications that are incomplete or do not meet eligibility criteria will be rejected after scrutiny. The application fee is non-refundable
  • Review the eligibility criteria for each fellowship programme on the Sankara Nethralaya website.

  • Written examinations for Anterior Segment Fellowships Programs (Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Comprehensive Ophthalmology + Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea, Glaucoma, Oculoplasty, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Neuro Ophthalmology) and Posterior Segment Fellowships Programs (Uvea, Vitreo Retina, Medical Retina Advanced, Medical Retina & Uvea) are conducted on separate dates at the Padma Bhushan Dr. S.S. Badrinath campus - Sankara Nethralaya main campus.
  • Candidates holding a Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) ONLY are ineligible for the following fellowships:
    Cornea, Oculoplasty, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Vitreo Retina, Medical Retina Advanced, Medical Retina & Uvea
  • Please provide the following documents upon your fellowship selection:
    Service Bond Documentation:
    1. If your service bond is completed: Provide your Relieving Letter.
    2. If your service bond is ongoing/pending: Provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your UG/PG College or University.
    Current Employment Documentation:
    1. Provide your relieving Letter.
  • The selection process for shortlisted candidates will involve a written MCQ test followed by an interview with a panel of senior doctors

    VR fellowship – fellowship interview ( IN-PERSON ) 21.11.2026 (Saturday)
